MUGEN!

Mugen - "...a word of Japanese origin meaning dream, fantasy, or infinite."

Armand Rome was inspired by the soundtrack of anime Samurai Champloo and the other woks of Japanese hip-hop producer Nujabes. Originally choosing "MUGEN" (one of three main characters from the anime) as his producer name, he decided to add "the Human" in order to stand out among other artists going by the same name (and as an attempt at a clever rhyme). Although raised in Prince George's County, Maryland; he started seriously pursuing music after moving to Chicago for college (2016). Utilizing several different apps including GarageBand, the vast majority of his music has been created on his iPhone, setting him apart from most of his contemporaries. A musician most of his life, he started playing guitar at the age of six and continued to take lessons and even perform all the way through high school. Graduating from Baltimore School for the Arts, he studied classical guitar and also received conservatory-style training in music theory, history, and performance. Despite his deep dive into the classical genre, his love for hip-hop wasn't lost on him. Deciding to attend Columbia College Chicago, where he currently studies Music Business, Armand hoped to give his artistry a fresh start and pursue a career as a rapper and producer. From his passion for anime, comics, and film; to his many years of musical experience on and off the stage; to the uncanny process of producing, recording, and mixing all on his iPhone; and his ability to naturally switch between different hip-hop styles makes MUGEN! The Human, or Armand, a true standout among his contemporaries.
